.: From the desk of the Imperial Wizard :.
Silver bells, tinsel, turkey, presents, carols, lights, decorations and ribbons are all a part of this season. Actually that is fine and all should enjoy these as much as possible. Where we are dropping the ball is on how much we spend on what.
This whole season is not just about buying gifts and partying.
We are celebrating the birth of the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, JESUS CHRIST.
Over two thousand years ago he humbled Himself to come to this earth in the form of a baby, born in poverty, and laid in a manger surrounded by animals. He didn't come in glory bound in fine fancy garments and wearing gold and diamond jewelry.
A stable, that was his 5 star hotel. This great Saviour of ours never did do the things one associates with greatness and success. He was a humble man who served God. Sure, he performed many miracles, but that was to benefit others, not Himself.
Today we hear constantly about how the retailers are not doing as well as they expected. What a pity. People all over America are hurting and they simply do not have the money to spend.
This fascination with how much we spend on what has got us more worried than what have we done to honor the good Lord. Maybe, just maybe, if we were to cut back on some wasted spending and give to those who really are in need than we might just have a more blessed Christmas and a more prosperous New Year.
Jesus said "when you do it to the least of these, than you do it to me.".........
