As we prepare for Christmas and the holiday season, and go to buy gifts and get caught up in all of the commercial trappings of this glorious day, let us all take time to reflect on THE greatest gift. No, it is not the diamond ring, the gold ear rings, the new play station, the surround sound theater, or even the coveted Red Ryder bb gun. The greatest gift was given over twenty centuries ago by a loving God. Given to His wayward children. That gift was, and is, Jesus Christ. A lowly babe was born to a poor working family who had little. They did not even have a room to stay in, and had to lay this babe in a manger, surronded by cattle and sheep. A very insignificant family not only by today's standards, but also by the standards of that long ago culture. He had no wealth to inherit, no chance for a great future of schooling and learning, no fame to speak of, no great family name. This poor insignificant babe, without so many of life's necessities, was without a doubt the greatest gift that has ever been given, bar none. For this babe brought us redemption. Through Him we can have eternal life, and total forgiveness for our sins. The baby, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came to this Earth to pay a debt he didn't owe to cover our debts that we couldn't pay. Imagine. One so holy, so pure, so mighty, come as a lowly babe so He could experience our feelings, thoughts, and desires. He came not to seek glory, but, to preach, teach, and suffer a horrible fate and death so we could reign with Him forever. Today, many try to shun Him. To pretend He is not the one true Son of God. To take away His glory and His position as King of Kings. They will never succeed. He is who He is. Soon, after over two thousand years, He will come again. This time though, ALL will know who He truly is. EVERY knee shall bend, and EVERY head shall bow, but, for some, it will be too late. Those serving the false gods, those who have not accepted Him, those who have not sought salvation, those who have made light of this lowly babe, all will perish. He will come again in glory, adorned with the rightful names of Lord of Lords and King of Kings. His birthright. Our King. No more will he be beaten, or tortured, or murdered. He will reign supreme, and we shall serve Him forever. Eternal life with the Master. This lowly babe had the power of armies at His command. The power to calm the seas and still the winds, the power to raise the dead to life, to heal, and to defeat Satan. Yet he remained humble and obedient to His Fathers will. Not doing the things one considers as acts of greatness or success, but yielding to what God wanted of Him, even accepting a cruel punishment and death upon a cross. All so we could and can be redeemed. This people is the greatest gift of all time, a lowly babe born and placed in a manger. Now, as we prepare fine meals, buy precious gifts, sing carols, and decorate our homes, let us not forget just who we are honoring. Let us remain humble also, and let us honor him by helping those less fortunate than ourselves. Do good deeds is HIS name to give HIM honor and glory that he so justly deserves. Let us do as He did and place others before ourselves. Let us also obey His commandments, and seek forgiveness for our shortcomings and sins. Let us do as He did and give of ourselves to those who need our help, do as He did and think of those who suffer and provide something for them, and do as he did and provide of our preachers and teachers. He denied Himself great honor and glory to do the Father's will. What more fitting can we do than a little self sacrifice to Honor Him on such a grand occasion? Once again, as another year is coming to a close, I wish my Lord and Saviour a Very Happy Birthday, and may I show just some of the compassion that He has shown to wards others. THAT is one of the greatest gifts we can give.

Happy Birthday Jesus
