There are some words we as Klansmen should not only live by, but we should absolutely do all in our very being to practice them in all of our affairs. Some of these were held in great reverence by the ones who came before us.
Integrity is one that springs to mind in an instant. If you have no integrity, what do you have? Do you stand for something and do all you can to preserve it, or, are you like a leaf blowing in the wind. By that I mean do you let different situations change your beliefs, or are you consistent? Standing tall and strong for what you believe is right can be a different experience. When you commit to something, do you follow through with it? Or do you just get caught in the heat of the moment and then let it slip away? The follow through is the tough part. If you make a pledge, you are expected to honor it. Whether it be money, time, or heaven forbid your loyalty, once you have committed, honor it. Others are counting on you.
Honor is another word that should jump right out and get your attention. If you don't know the meaning of honor, stop reading right here and go join the n.a.a.c.p. or some such outfit. In days gone by, a man would die for his honor. Seems today some will sell it for a few pieces of silver just as Judas did. An honorable man is getting to be a rarity. When you swear your oath, you basically swear on your honor. Once you betray it, your credibility is shot.
Honesty can cover untold numbers of areas. There is the cash register type of honesty, where you can be trusted to handle money or other things of worth. There is honesty in truth. If your words are honest and true, you are a person of honor and integrity, usually.Honesty in character can be at times very misleading. Are you that which you portray? Or do you fly false colors? I am not talking about infiltrators here, I am talking about being really you. Or do you live a lie? In other words, if for example you tell us that you are the one for a certain position and you get that position, are you really the best person for it? Do you know what to do with it for the betterment of this Order and for your brothers, or are you dishonest with us and yourself and only take it for the notoriety?
Strength can be interpreted many different ways. The physical strength we normally associate with it's meaning can be extremely useful and important, but inner strength is the magic touch. Do you have what it takes to reach way down deep inside and draw out that which is needed to help you achieve your goals? There are times and situations where that inner strength can be the difference between life and death, or worse, between success and failure. We as Klansmen should never entertain the idea of failure. Failure should be shameful to us. Once a situation has been undertaken, follow it through to the end. This is one of the reasons the White race is in such sad shape today. Quitting has become the norm. You don't like the way it is going, don't bother to put forth any effort to try and change it, just quit. This is NOT the mark of a true Klansman.
Compassion will probably strike some as an odd word for a Klansman, but if you read your material you will see where some of the founding principals of this order was the caring for widows and orphans. Compassion for those less fortunate than us, regardless of skin color or religious beliefs. For any of you that do not believe this, I can relate many personal experiences of helping good black, yes, black people who were on hard times. Many old time Klansmen can tell you the very same thing.
One thing for sure and for certain, being a Klansman is one thing, but LIVING a Klansman's life with a Klansman's code is quite another. There are certain standards one must strive to maintain daily. If one does not truly live the code, one is truly not a Klansman. Yes, these are words, but they are words of a righteous life. A life of service to others. Non Silba Sed Anthar----Not for self but others. These are words too. These very words put into practice will help us to achieve the previous ones, and then we can begin to become true Klansmen.
