A Crumbling America
Everywhere you look people have for sale signs on their homes.
Unemployment
is increasing more everyday. Gas is at record highs climbing more each
day.
Insurance rates are through the roof. Companies are laying off or
closing
all across the land. People can't pay their bills. Many have to choose
between food or gas to go to work. What has happened to the land of
opportunity?
When Ross Perot ran for President, he said if N.A.F.T.A. passes, all
you
will hear is a giant sucking sound heading south. Many in the news
media,
especially the radio talk show hosts, ridiculed him greatly. Guess
what? It
passed, and that giant sucking sound could be heard across the land.
Huge
mills, factories, and warehouses shut their doors. Production began in
Mexico with cheap labor and no benefits to pay. Notice one thing here,
the
price of the goods didn't drop.
Along comes China, with cheaper labor yet. Now they are the ones
producing
in vast numbers. Of course they don't have the quality control or the
health
requirements we have in America either. Their goods do not have the
many
inspections we have here. Stands to reason that their products won't be
as
good as ours. Peoples children have been poisoned, along with their
pets and
we still buy the Chinese junk.
People tell me well, that's all they have at Wal-mart..... So? Buy
somewhere
else. Raise cain with the managers at the store and tell them you
refuse to
purchase that junk. If Americans would stick together for just a little
while, and boycott this imported garbage, the retailers would have no
choice
but to supply what we want. WE control Wal-mart, K-mart, Sears and the
rest
with OUR dollars. If we don't spend, they don't do business.
We did our Christmas shopping this year without relying on any overseas
products. I bought my wife a nice antique ring that was made right
here. She
bought me collectibles also made here. We looked around for gifts for
each
other utilizing antique shops, the internet, and magazines to find
American
made products. We got things for the grandchildren made right here,
including books. (Yes, books, they still read them).
We have lists upon lists of many web sites that sell American made
products.
All it takes is to change your buying strategy a little. If we all do
this,
we can still turn things around.
Americans need to also HIRE Americans. I have a good friend that is in
the
landscaping business. He hires Americans only. He was telling me once
that
he could also hire cheaper Mexican labor, but refused to do so for a
few
bucks. I greatly admire him for that. I told him he probably gets a lot
of
repeat business because of the quality of work that they do.
I have seen the quality in the construction industry go so far down in
the
past couple of decades that it is sickening. Shoddy workmanship is the
norm.
It is absolutely disgusting to see what people pay to have a house or
building built and then to see how awful the finished product is. It
truly
amazes me that people put up with it. We have gone from a proud
workforce
that took pride in their work to a slam, bang, get it done bunch who
show no
pride in their work what so ever.
Americans are hurting, and it is only going to get much worse unless we
act,
and act now. We MUST quit sitting back and taking everything so
lightly. We
had better act now, for now is about all we have.
We need to contact our elected officials and tell them how we feel.
Tell
them we won't put up with it any longer. Tell them to put America
first.
Remember, they technically work for us! NOW is the time to stand up and
be
heard. Tell them to close the borders, to fine heavily the businesses
who
hire illegal aliens, to enforce our immigration laws, to put a stop to
this
insanity. Things have gone far enough and we have to be the ones that
put an
end to it. If we don't, America has surely had it.
