" Thou believest that there is one God: thou doest well: the devils also believe, and shudder."
* The point here Brethren, is that belief in God isn't good enough. People stay at home every Sunday and never darken the door way of a church building. You ask them if they believe in God and they will tell you, " Sure I believe in God!" The difference is when you do MORE than believe, you faith it! You can believe in God all you want, but like the devils, that won't be saved, ( you don't think you're going to see any of them in Heaven do you?), it alone won't get you very far. You have to FAITH your belief! Faith is belief in action. You can believe in God all you want and never attend worship. When you believe in Him and you attend worship service, you are " faithing" it! Faith is the active part of passive belief! This verse shows us, that if we expect his mercy, we can't just simply believe...we have to be busy doing his work BELIEF + FAITH= Salvation. God never has taught us to just hold our hands out and He would fill them. That's the welfare system! Pray as if everything depends on God and work like it depends on you! His grace will carry you through!
